The Berkshire Artists Colony (BAC) is a non-profit art organization founded in 2009 by working artists for working artists. Through workshops, lectures, exhibitions, performances, studio space, and artists' residencies, the BAC seeks to promote the creation and appreciation of contemporary art, literature, and performance. Located in the Berkshire Mountains, the BAC is part of one of the most important contemporary art regions outside of metropolitan cities. The nations largest contemporary visual and performing arts museum, MASS MoCA, and North Adam's DownStreet Art are located here. The Clark Art Institute, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Williams College Museum of Art, Tanglewood Music Festival, Jacob's Pillow Dance, Berkshire Museum, Norman Rockwell Museum, Chesterwood, and many other cultural and recreational offerings are all also nearby.
